1. Drink at least 2 liters of water
Water is life. Not only is the majority of our planet covered in it, but most of the human body is also made of it.
Drink your water. As contradictory as it may seem, it reduces water retention and moisturises our largest organ, our skin. I'm someone who tends to forget to drink, which is why it's on my list of things I want to change this year.
2. 30 minutes work-outs, 4-5 times a week
For someone like me, who works in retail and therefore has different working hours every day, it’s often difficult to create a consistent routine for each day. But there are also people in other professions, mums or dads who have to look after children, in general people who can't go to the gym for three hours every day.
From my own experience and also from research, I know that 30 minutes of exercise a day - be it a walk, strength training or another sport that you enjoy - is absolutely sufficient. Be gentle to yourself and your body. Take rest days. You can’t achieve great things when you’re lacking energy.
3. 10 minutes meditation
10 minutes without a phone, 10 minutes of silence without being disturbed. These 10 minutes can be quite beneficial for your overall well-being.
We are used to a fast-paced, hectic everyday life - to be available 24/7, to do everything quickly and to function immediately. It is more than helpful to take this speed out of your life a little and focus on the present. You will see that you will be much calmer.

4. No screen time 1 hour before bed and after getting up
Screen time right before falling asleep guarantees that you’ll stay awake for some time. Consuming social media in particular ensures that our brain is supplied with more information, which makes the process of falling asleep more difficult. We don't really get to rest, which also has a negative impact on the quality of our sleep.
Waking up and reaching for your phone – I do have this reflex. However, I want to start my day in peace. You don't always have to be available to everyone and the messages and news will be there later as well.
5. Sunscreen – Every. Single. Day.
It should already be common knowledge that you should always protect your skin from the sun. The skin on the face in particular is sometimes very thin and sensitive, which makes it susceptible to signs of ageing. However, the beauty beneficials should never detract from the health aspects such as skin cancer.
Wear sun cream whether you plan to leave the house or not. You don't even need a separate sun cream, many moisturizers for the face already have a low spf and can easily be incorporated into your daily skin care routine.
6. Spend at least 10 Minutes outside
As someone who likes to spend time indoors, snuggled up in a blanket with a good book in my hand, I know only too well what it's like to be outside too little. However, a little fresh air every day is very good and sunlight has a positive effect on the immune system even in winter (we love a little vitamin d).
I have set myself the goal of spending at least 10 minutes outside every day, preferably in the form of a short walk.
7. Protein packed meals
Protein packed meals – it basically explains everything. For us women a high protein breakfast is key to balance our cortisol levels.
Sometimes I struggle to get enough protein into my meals, but I'm learning and one day I'll be good at it.
8. Skin Care Routine
I wish I could tell you that a really good skin care routine is key but unfortunately too much can be a little overwhelming for your skin.
I love taking the time in the morning to dedicate myself to my skin care routine and make it a real ritual. It's a form of self-love and me-time that I can enjoy, just like the time I take for my make-up. As soon as I skip a day of my skin care routine, it’s incredibly irritating for me.
What‘s skin care for me, can be a walk for others, dedicating yourself to a hobby or perhaps simply leaving behind your daily struggles and taking a deep breath for a couple of minutes. Take time for yourself and turn it into a little, every day ritual for yourself.
9. No more procrastinating
If there was an award for procrastination, I would have already earned the gold medal. I always tell myself that I need the thrill of getting something done at the last minute, but the feeling of having it done earlier so that I can cross it off of my to-do list comes very close.
So, less procrastination, more realisation is the motto for this year. As Britney Spears said: 'You better work hard, b*tch' and that's the spirit.
10. waking up early and making your bed
I love waking up early because I’m a morning person and the most productive before noon. You have simply more of your day. I also love making my bed in the morning, as it not only makes my room look more put together but also gives me the feeling that I’ve done something productive. It’s a really good start to your day.
I know not everyday can look as productive and organized as the one before and my days surely aren’t all well-planned but I’ll try to incorporate as many points possible into my daily routine, trying to be the best version of myself. But there will be days that I can’t and if you’re feeling the same, that’s totally fine.
Everybody is different, everybody’s base and source of well-Being is different so find, what fits best for you!
Nonetheless, I hope I could help and inspire you a little bit.
Love, Ella
